Sorry to hear about the rude drivers. I generally do not experience much trouble but it does happen.

I am not sure of your route but from the sounds of it you are on some rather rural roads. Usually our FM (farm to market) roads have a shoulder but not always. Also if there is a SR (state route) highway they will almost always have shoulders. US highways have shoulders in most places.

If you don't mind, let me know your route through the rest of Texas and I may be able to comment on the shoulder status or construction. There is a lot of construction in the Houston area.

Wimberly is a different type of a town. Years ago it was a small place with a few stores but I understand it has grown.

Hi Ellen - We love reading about your life lessons along the way on such a huge trip! You've shared some and they are wonderful. What do you think about as you pedal out 90 miles?? Or are you wonderfully in the present moment? :-) Hugs, Anne

Ellen, I am glad you had a good ride today, even 4 miles makes a difference. I hope you check your email before riding into LaGrange. We found that to be a charming town. For great onion rings (never touch them except on a bike ride) and juicy burgers, try Franks Place in LaGrange. If you have time, check out the restored court house and jail. You may see pictures of Sheriff Jim Flournoy at Frank's Place. When I inquired as to his importance, the waitress asked if the name "Chicken Ranch" meant anything to me...as in the Best Little W...... in Texas. Yep, that is where the real Chicken Ranch was. Try to look up its history. One of my favorite towns.
