The National Breast Cancer Coalition
This cross-country ride was founded by a breast cancer survivor and has served as a fundraiser for over 10 years now. Like most of you, I have had both friends and relatives whose lives have been affected by this disease from my maternal grandmother who died many years before I was born to close friends who live in the shadow of breast cancer each day. Aunt Janice, Sarah, Christine, Sunny, Megan, Tara, Mimi, Trudy, Karen and Jane have all had their own challenges with breast cancer. Crossing the country by bicycle is mine to support all of them. The NBCC works to increase federal funding for breast cancer research and to improve access to high-quality health care to all women. We’ve come a long way in the treatment of breast cancer since my grandmother died but there’s still a long way to go. Consider helping to protect and support a woman in your life.
